* Look what came in the mail yesterday *

This beauty arrived in the mail in a big box yesterday.
Now to be fair I did win it on Ebay so I knew it was coming, but its just so fun to have packages waiting for you when you get home from work! You might be asking yourself what is so exciting about this hobnail milkglass vase? Well it is one of the centerpieces for my wedding. I know I said I couldn't decide on anything with any certainty for my very own wedding. Well I most certainly have decided that I love these antique hobnail milkglass vases in all sorts of shapes and sizes and I have been dilligently collecting them for the last month.
Here's a shot of the whole "collection".

In fact I took a box of centerpieces down to Alexis Party Rental on Monday to play around with linens and chairs, china and glassware. I have decided that yellow and white are definitely "my colors".

Here's a sneak peak at the table linen and some of the centerpieces with makeshift floral and lemons.

The linen is Shangri-la and the daffodil yellow napkin is hidden by one of the vases on the right. I think it will be quite pleasing when its all done up!

* LOST *

Aahhh LOST my favorite TV show! It is, in fact, the only “must see” TV show for me. I absolutely love it; I can’t get enough of it. I can’t believe that ABC makes LOST fans wait until February to see the newest episodes. I can’t believe I’m sucked in to this ever changing, totally out there, inexplicable script! I also can't believe that its on at 9 o'clock and I never stay awake long enough to see the cliff hanger ending! Lucky me I can see the episode the very next morning on the website. Just in case you have been under a rock for the past 5 years you can read a synopsis of the show here.
My two favorite characters are Jack and Sawyer. Can I get an “Amen sister”?! Jack is the good looking doctor who takes charge. My claim to fame (or my claim to famous person sighting) is I saw Jack, aka Matthew Fox, in a bar in Washington D.C. when I was with Brenda and Angel. It must have been my first famous person sighting because I think it took my breath away. And I promptly began to text everyone in my phone to tell them about it. And Sawyer… well they had to script a good looking bad boy who likes to take his shirt off, right?! I love that Sawyer has witty nicknames for everyone on the island, they are hilarious.

Well here's to the anticipation of Wednesday night at 9 o'clock!!!

* under the weather *

I'm sick, I've been sick for 1 week now. I've had the cough, the cold, the fever, the chills, and the headache. Today my head is in a fog. These items have been my closest friends for the past week. I fear I've spread my illness to Mark and to the girls at the office. I'm sorry.

Today my face is looking normal again. My nose is only peeling now, it was red like rudolf for a while there. I hate being sick.

* wedding dreams *

I'll be honest... I spend most of my day thinking about my wedding! As I drive to work, usually while I am at work, on my drive home from work, at home when I'm browsing the internet, while I sleep I sometimes dream about my wedding. I'm an event planner, I do this for a living. I've helped plan so many weddings I've lost track of how many. But now its my turn, for real, and I'm stuck. I can't decide what colors I like best, I can't decide what theme I'm most excited about, I can't find the perfect dress, I haven't decided what I want the bridesmaids to wear, I don't know which flowers to choose, I haven't event decided on which "save the dates" to send out. I think its because the deadline is so far away.... August 1st.

Well here's what I like, but nothing is decided... yet.

* I like this bouquet, yellow and white are my current favorite.

* I love this dress from Priscilla of Boston, its not in my price range.

* I am enamored by this veil. It is perfect!

* Would a yellow and white cake would be too cute? I think I want lots of desserts, not just cake!
* It wouldn't be the perfect summer ceremony without some refreshing lemonade while the guests wait for me to walk down the aisle. Bonus: its yellow.

I suppose you will have to stay tuned to see what I actually decide on for the wedding day!

* the 8 hour U-Turn *

How this all got started... I love to tell stories, I love to laugh and be entertained. I love to read my friend blogs and their friends blogs and the blogs of people I don't even know. I've never felt the need to have my own but the idea bit me in the butt today on my way to work. I think 'cause I had one of those weekends from hell where nothing quite goes right... or even close to right.

I imagined writing eloquently about the trip to Mammoth and making my readers feel the pain of starting the drive at 1 pm on Friday, excited, ready to be done with work for 4 glorious days, only to have the car breakdown a mere 2 hours into the trip, waiting an additional 1.5 hours for the tow truck to get to us, the ensuing 1 hour long drive with an extremely tall (6'5" at least) tow truck driver telling us tales of the numerous wrecks he has recently towed, some gory, some funny, all of them unfortunate and he recounted them in the most monotone voice. Then how a friend rescued us from spending our life's savings at the Chevy dealership by perilously driving the broke down vehicle to his house and vowing to replace the busted water pump while we were away on our ski weekend. Then deciding it was worth it to drive the friend's car to pick up my car from work and fill it with all of our snow gear, clothes and food and again attempt the drive the following morning. Thus bringing us full circle (back to my work parking lot) where we began the journey exactly 8 hours later with exactly ZERO miles toward our end goal of Mammoth. That's right the first day of the 4 day weekend turned out to be an 8 hour U-Turn. I then thought it wouldn't be right to start my blog with a rant, I must make it interesting.... I know I will post pictures. Pictures are always good. For your viewing pleasure I submit the following...
